Help! Driver Window Problem (electrical)
Thanks to this site I was able to save some time. Because I knew what the problem was before leaving my car for service I was able to print out the service bulletin and drop it off with the dealer so they could order the regulator in advance.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
TSB 01-008 addresses this as a Window Regulator Assembly replacement issue. See https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...highlight=01008 This is a great post as it lists this TSB and several other nagging S2000 problems such as intermittent CD skips, engine almost dying with clutch depressed when stopped etc.
I have an appointment with my dealer for this very issue. Thatx for the links. I just printed the TSB list out and will give them a call tomorrow... hopefully I can get the part there before I am...
I hope you guys have better luck with your dealers than I. I took mine in last week and they said it was the power window switch including the control unit. They ordered the part and installed it. It worked fro one hour. I took it back to the dealer and they sat on it all day without looking at it. I called and complained and they promise to look at it tomorrow. I will call them and tell them what I read at this site about the Motor Regulator.
Everyone:
As the starter for this thread, I thought it time for an update. My first post was 8/11, and I finally decided to take the S2K into my "friendly" dealer. Armed with the data from this thread (Thanks everyone!), I suggested to the Service Manager that the problem might be a common one. He had me demonstrate it, and then decided to call the Honda Tech Line. Hopefully they will inform him that the problem is the regulator -- thereby avoiding a day of diagnostics in the shop. We will see.... nothing seems to work out on the first attempt. When the seat belt recall was done, the dealer managed to scratch up the center console and break the black roll bar cover plastic behind the driver side. A new part was ordered followed by the standard additional day in the shop. I am getting to know the service guys pretty well now -- at least it is a place to have my morning cup of coffee.

My dealer investigated the problem and received correspondance from Honda stating that replacement of the window regulator will not fix the problem. It may be about 8 months before a satisfactory solution is available. I suggest you sit tight and don't waste your time replacing the regulator. At some point there should be an updated Service Bulletin.
Hi Guys:
I posted last January about this situation.
Japan had fixed the problem and we got new parts. Now it seems that the new parts aren't as fixed as we had hoped.
The Dealers received a message from Honda on Tuesday that the VIN break on the TSB is not accurate and others may fail. It usually takes several months of warm weather to make it start to intermittently not go all the way down.
If you want you can take your car to the dealer and have them put in another regulator, it might start to act up in a couple months, or you can wait till we get better parts from Japan and then the TSB will be updated with a new part number and VIN break.
Hope this helps,
Woodwork
