Help identifying between f20 and f22
Hello everyone I'm a new s2000 owner as of Tuesday.
I purchased a 2004 and I'm in love, but one thing I noticed was the coil pack cover was black and not gold.
I was wondering if there is any way for me to identify if the motor is an f22 or f20 easily

Look where the engine number is stamped. Just below the fuel rail close to the block itself. If it reads F22Cxxxxx then you know its an F22. One other visual cue would be the valve cover's PCV design which changed from '04 up and in the US those engines were exclusively F22's.

It should be 8k for him but that doesn't guarantee whether the engine in the car is an F20 or 22. His best bet is to check the engine number stamped on the block just to be sure. He could also rev it all the way to red to see if it cuts out at 8k or goes beyond

Wouldn't the engine cut off at 8k anyways if the engine was swapped without an ecu swap? Or is that not possible between the two

Hard to confirm what transmission you have though...
