Default Help identifying part in my Vortech supercharged engine bay(pic)

Is this the secondary air pump hose with a filter stuck on the end?

The reason I ask, now that the weather here in the Northeast is cold, my check engine keeps coming on with the secondary air code.

Is this because of the weather or is my secondary air pump broken? Any way to test? Is that how the filter should be on the end of the hose?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like the intake hose before the pump. There are to many things in the secondary air system to diagnose without more info. What code do you have? Here are the codes that are be Secondary Air related. PO410, P1415 and P1416 The filter is a GM PCV Filter that mounts inside a air filter housingFor any mid1970"s to Early90's Gm product. The Air pump intake hose is plumbed into the stock air filter Inlet tube.

I'm not driving the car much, but I might have it out tonight. If I do, I will get you the exact code.

Thanks for your help.

I would verify that all the vacuum lines to the control solenoid valve are routed correctly and have no holes in them. The solenoid was mounted on the stock airbox, and has 2 vacuum lines to it. I'm not sure where the solenoid is mounted with the Vortech kit. Also check the vacuum reserve tank that is below the airbox. (stock location) I would also check the electrical connector to the solenoid. I have seen this code before from misrouted vacuum lines after Cai installations. The last one that I worked on had the vacuum hose from the solenoid disconnected next to the throttle body, where the hose attaches to the hard line. Good luck

I'd follow "Slows" advice here. Most specifically there are two vaccuum hoses leading to the secondary air solenoid. One is always looser then the other as the diameters of the two nipples vary for some unknown reason. It could be that the colder weather is affecting the seal around the smaller pipe. Might want to try switching out the hoses with a silicone based vacuum/windshield wiper hose; 3mm -- available at most automotive stores. The code noted is indicative of a vacuum leak and not a secondary air pump failure.
