Keep in mind, my engine build is not complete and I haven't yet installed the AEM ECU. When my car was running with the UR turbo kit and the AEM C2DI, I was using stock ECU with an e-Manage. I haven't yet explored how to hook up the C2DI with the AEM ECU. I'm assuming that is where the confusion is coming from.

I did a bit more search and found that the above wiring diagram is a wasted cop setup. We got 5 coil outputs so we just wire it like the instruction.

White, green, yellow and violet to C4, C12, c13 and C14 pins respectively.

PS I misread the above diagram as well. The c2di has a tachometer OUTPUT and not input

So you say that the AEM instructions are O.K?

I am actually saying that if the instruction is correct then the ecu pins to hook up are as above. However I recalled "yakrat" (he's a long term member here but doesn't post too often) saying something about the instruction being incorrect. I don't know which instruction he was using or whether aem has amended the instruction.

Setting the c2di with a wasted spark cop should be just fine. I think cjb80 used a wasted spark external coils. Both setups have same wiring configuration to the coils. You only change the ignition inputs (ground 3rd and 4th inputs) and a switch (? 3rd or second switch).

NB: I worked this out from all the information available on the net. My unit is not here yet and I've yet to wire everything up.

Please share your result when you successfully wire this up.

Sorry I missed the above discussion.

With regard to the error in the CDI instructions: When using four coils (not wasted spark) the original diagram above is incorrect. The common tan and pink wires should be swapped between #3 and #4.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I am not using the AEM CDI because I have had reliability problems with it. Instead, I have swapped to the MSD DIS-4 (another CDI that has been on the market longer than the AEM CDI).

To aleviate any concerns about the diagrams, the MSD and AEM boxes use the exact same harness and connector, i.e. they are perfectly swappable.

I have not run wasted spark and I do not understand why anyone would want to since the car was originally set up for COP. Please enlighten me otherwise.

With regard to the CDI, I have been using this setup daily for over a month without any problems. It is much more responsive/drivable than previously (stock ignition).

I hope this clarifies some of the confusion.
