HELP! LOOKING INTO A POSS. REBUILD! HELP!
well i got a S with 100k on the clock and its probably time to start thinking about rebuilding the motor a little.
what should i do? its not really immidiate as i dont have the money to do it all at once but i was thinking i could just start buying things little by little like pistons rods rings bearings and things like that so that it is a little easier on me. is there anything else i should get along with that stuff? like valves and springs and retainers or any kind of other little things?
my next question is should i go back OEM or do a little bit of a build on it? i have heard that with the S its pretty much built from the factory straight for performance so there is not much to improve that is worth the money. also what brands are a good bang for the buck? i know the obvious like Eagle for the rotating parts like rods and pistons but what about all the others?
as you probably have guessed by now im new to this and learning as i go so please just give me the consrtuctive help! i know im a noob so no need to say it again and again i just dont want to spend money on things i dont need or things that are over priced that i can buy the same thiing from another place and spend 1/2 as much..
thanks in advance for all the help it is much appreciated!!

A well maintained motor can last up to 300,000. Especially a Honda.
Just stick with basic maintenance. Get a valve adjustment, change oil, tranny fluid, diff fluid, brake fluid, clutch fluid. New clutch, brakes, and tires. New air filter. Youll be good for a long time

how much is a valve adjustment? im up to par on the other stuff minus the clutch but mine still feels strong. the reason i was thinking about rebuild is mainly miles and that i dont know how the car was treated prior to me. and i like to drive "enthusiastically" ha ha so i just wanna be safe but i do agree with the if it aint broke dont fix it. this is my baby tho so it has just been a thought
My friend has 155,000 on his and he tracks it at least once a month - the engine is totaly stock. Things to think about:
-timing chain tensioner (cheap and DIY)
-valve adjustment (another S2ki member with experience doing this would be best)
-Flush the coolant and refill with Honda type II (DIY)
-Spark plugs, ONLY USE THE FACTORY RECOMENDED PLUGS (DIY)
-inspect upper and lower radiator hoses for cracks and deterioration
-drain and fill trans and diff oils (DIY and should be done at least twice a year if its driven daily and after every track event)
Other than that, I really cant think of anything to do to the engine if it "aint broke".
