it could if the scores are not too deep.... remember the cylinder walls are coated with a special material if the scorings are too deep than OBVIOUSLY you cant hone it.....+ I think Honing is done to ensure the rings and the walls mate correctly and not to unscore the score.....

Inspect your oil filter by cutting a cross section out and look for metal shavings.

You can also use a device that looks like a Doctor's scope for listening to your heart. By placing this on points of the engine, you can determine where the tick is coming from.

Suggest you pull the head off and look at cylinder walls.
