Everyone will probably tell you to pull the head and check for cracked retainers
I bet they tell him to pull the valve cover and check the retainers

retainers and keepers are cheap (~$30 for intake side) - it is the labor that isn't cheap (if you don't have time/experience to diy).

You probably won't see anything on a quick look - if the retainers cracked - they may have slightly cracked and it may take a while for those little cracks to something visible.

"cracked" means if their depressed or pushed in right, from normal position?

yes, you can find pics with a search. Cracks may start on the underside and not (yet) affect the keeper seating, so even a visual inspection isn't conclusive.
If you have time, this is a great DIY to do on your own. If not, this is a great DIY to pay someone to do. Parts are cheap. I have 8 retainers/16 keepers (new) FS.

Well if you were really going 70 and shifted into 2nd in your AP1 then it only overrevved to 9500rpm at max. Given that the car should have been slowing down during the misshift (time in neutral and the engine braking once in 2nd gear) you may not have even been at 70 any more, so you likely didn't even hit 9500rpm (70mph in 2nd gear in an AP1). Even if you did hit 9500 that's not high enough to do any damage. Now if you were going 73-74mph and the engine did manage to rev all the way out in 2nd gear at that speed you would have hit 10,000rpm which is probably not good.....but I kind of think you're in the clear. It really depends on how fast you were actually going.

deathsled is right! the AP1 could handle 9500rpm fine.

Also, the initial engagement of the clutch, which creates drivetrain friction, would significantly slow the vehicle speed down before full engagement.
