If you dont notice a power loss then you should be fine. If you're truly worried just do a compression test, you can buy them at Sears and its really easy to do. or find a friend to do it for you, takes no longer than 20 minutes.

+ if you bent valves your engine more than likely would have quit running.

Have a leak down and compression test done. Remove the valve cover and inspect the valve spring retainers, and the valve lash clearance. Just to be shure. I read that this engine can turn up to 10,700 rpm, so you may be good.

Problems arise thousands of miles after an over-rev... get it checked out

best advice yet .... if you feel you did over-rev your motor to a point where it could have damaged something ... get your valve spring retainers checked.

Well typically s2000's have been known to have the ability to run symptom free for quite a while with a cracked retainer that can later fail . . . . so it has been common practice to inspect retainers on a bad over-rev. However, Billman has said his current theory is that AP2 retainers are improved to the point where they will not crack until the point where valves would already be kissing and bending . . . . so anotherwords billman believes an AP2 (2004+ s2000) would either show symptoms right away or your okay.

Buttttt . . . you might want to just pull the valve cover and have the retainers inspected for piece of mind. The compression and leakdown test would not show cracked retainers on AP1's unless the valve has already been dropped.

i over revd my engine last week. got it checked out right away. the piece of mind is well worth it and cost 10% of what a new engine does.

good luck i hope everything is ok
