Default HELP! Tapping noise?

here in north carolina this whole week has been colder than normal. this week at nights its been at temps from 18-24 every night. that being said i was off work for 2 days and felt no need to leave home and be in that weather so i didnt ever leave my home to go anywhere! my oil has been topped off and fine 3 weeks before the cold snap! my car has never not once made a tapping or knocking sound of any kind!

i run 10w30 castrol oil and i have 171k miles!

the 3rd day i had to get back to work and soon as i start my car in 33 degrees it goes.

knock knock knock knock knock knock ..... purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr like a beautiful meachine she is. itll never be present again no matter how many restarts! no mater how hard i rev it and i have gotten upset and hit it a few times and nothing got louder.

it does it literally for half a second! gone right after and it is only on a cold start fresh after sitting over night!

why in the hell did this issue happen after i let it rest in the driveway for 2 days!! it was and always has been perfectly fine!!

if i go to work after it starts idles fine and drive to work with not 1 issue or noise. i get to work at 1pm.... go to lunch at 3pm.... no noise... get back to work at 4 from lunch get off at 9pm... no noise.. go home it sits over night 1st thing on startup at 2pm knock knock knock..... gone... this has been the past 3 days.
i changed the oil with fresh 10w30 yesterday and it started today with it being fairly faint and still there and went away faster than before the oil change but still?

should i be worried?

i changed my tct last year and i know the sounds of it and how they can be once the car is warmed up it stayed and was constant so it cant be a tct!

0.5 second, though, should not be a problem. Next time try 0W-30 or at most 5W-30. Full synthetic. I run 5W-30 only because I can't find 0W-30 in my favorite color motor oil.

Gotta admit I've never been forced to drive my S2000 below freezing but my other Hondas were daily driven in temps well below 0°F for years. Temps here ain't really Cold (capital C). Ask the Canucks.
