HELP.. tranny or just a clutch?

Arrow HELP.. tranny or just a clutch?

So this is what happened. I was driving hard shifting between 3rd and 4th when I hear pop Zinggggggggggggg........... and that was it from then on the tranny will only click into gears when they are perfectly rev matched. It also feels more clunky than normal. As well when I approach an intersection sometimes I hear a clunkity clunk from the driveline I

I've seen pictures on s2ki of clutch friction disks with broken parts.
Maybe that happened to you too?

Time for a new clutch I guess.

Well the general thoughts are that since it seems to affect all the gears equaly it's most likely a broken clutch. I am only guessing here but Im thinking the next step will be to drop the fluid checking for metal and crack open the bellhousing to get at the clutch. I would love to here any thoughts from you guy's on this....

Probably a broken clutch hub, but you'll have to take it apart to verify.

Try the easy stuff first. How does it shift with the engine off? If its clunky even then, remove the shifter rod and inspect the bottom where it mates into the tranny. If not, check clutch master and slave cylinder operation. And if necessary bleed the line.

It sounds like you really do have serious clutch trouble but I would at least check those first before pulling the tranny.
