As you can see in the photo from previous post with the dry, rusty release bearing guide, the guide bolts to the trans, so it stays put, does not rotate.

I don't think I will really fully understand how this system works until I take it apart. Pea brain.
The amazing thing is that I have taken clutches apart on more than one occasion. But, it was so long ago I've forgotten a lot of it.
