If you put a air filter restriction gauge on your intake, don't change/clean it till it has around 11" to 15" of H2o restriction. You will be amazed at how long it takes to get to that restriction. I have over 85k miles on my air filter and will change it out at the end of 5 years or maybe 100k miles if I still don't have 11" to 15" of restriction. The more dirt the air filter stops the better it filters, you just don't want to go with to much restriction.

That is where the gauge comes in, it lets you know when to change/clean it. I test it all the time, WOT to the top of third or forth gear. I have 8" of restriction now and the gauge locks in at that restriction. I reset the gauge after a WOT run and I won't get any restriction just driving around.

When I sold my 06 Intake to my friend who has a 05 he just went to home depot and purchased a rubber plug and just plugged it up, should solve your problems, we also taped it with HVAC aluminum tape when we did the install
