If the car is only one month old (to you), you may have some protection from lemon laws in dealing with used cars. I know the new car protection is better than the used, but if it was the previous owner that did it, you may have some rights. I don't know for sure, but you may want to look into the possibility.

It all really depends on when the CEL (check engine light) was thrown. If it only appeared in the last week of you owning it, you *might* have overreved it by accident. That's about the compression I dropped when one of my valves was bent, but again it could be a number of things. Find out which codes they pulled and at what mileage they were registered at. I'm not sure that a tear in the intake tube could've caused the CEL to light, so it might have been a bent valve all along. Find out about the codes!

just out of curisoty - were are you located as i sold my spa 01 with the same miles in late April

also you'll need to know if the car ever had the spark plug recall done because if the plugs backed out you could have the same problem - ask them to yank the #4 spark plug

They would've seen that during the compression test.

i agree - but we are talking about a dealership - if they did a compression test i would still ask to see the plugs

They did do a test: 230,230,230,130 At least they said they did. Wouldn't hurt to check the plugs, but this really sounds like a valvetrain issue. I don't remember, but the #4 cylinder scoring issue, did thay cause low compression too? It's another possibility. You're going to have to tear down bro.

They could also send a scope down into the cylinder and take a look at it w/o removing the head.

You say you owned it for a month and don't remember taking it passed 6000 rpms?

Sorry mods if it is in the wrong section
I'll leave this here in case it becomes a technical discussion that might help you. If not, I'll move it later.
