Honda is trying to screw me...HELP
Here's the story...
I bought the car sometime in late June 2004, with about 41,590 miles on my 2001 Honda S2000. I purchased the extended Honda Care plan and also the car was CERTIFIED. About 2 weeks later I look at the airbox, and see that it's ripped at the plastic tubing. I make an appointment and they look at it and order the parts for me. About 2 weeks later I drop my car off so they install the airbox and the tubing that they ordered for me. They call me later that day and give me the bad news...I have a cylinder 4 misfire. (I have 44xxx miles now)This was on July 27th, and they had to have someone from Honda come and look at the engine to see if they will cover it. After waiting for 1 week, I get the call today and they tell me they are not going to cover it because its a bent valve and its caused from over revving. So my service manager tells me to call Honda Care and dispute it because he dosen't understand why they are not covering it. I call Honda Care and talk to some guy who says taht he will bring it to the attention of his supervisor and they will take a look at it again because I have only had the car for about 1 month. I told him taht I never over revved and I don't even remember ever taking it past 6000 rpm's. If they keep bringing up this issue of over revving, what should my arguement be. My argument right now is that it was used and the previous owner could have been responsible for this. Please help me, Honda is trying to screw me...I NEVER OVER REVVED THE ENGINE and they are trying to blame me for it.

I believe that they have a way of checking if the engine was overrevved in the time that you had it. It's like a black box that reads off what the car has done in the last x weeks. If you really did not overrev the car then you should push them to prove it to you and check it throught this.
They don't have the ability to check overrevs. I was in a similar situation to you, and ended up never getting help. If you never had a check engine light, I think the dealer might have had a little 'fun' with it and overreved it themselves. Argue the point that there were was no misfire code when you dropped it off to them. Check the milage as well, this smells fishy. If everything checks out, well, I hate to say it, but you're not gonna win.
Actually, it might not be a bent valve at all. There's no way to check that unless you take the cylinder head off. If could be a bad valve guide, a cracked retainer that's starting to drop the valve..etc. I would argue the points above and see where you are after that. The next thing to do is a tear down. If you want to save $$, do it yourself, it's not terribly complicated.

What was your situation, and what was the outcome. Sorry to be so nosey, but this is such a big issue for me. I have had the car for about 1 month and this occurs. Did you contact Honda Care, and I think they did rip the engine apart to check for the bent valve.
I had a bent valve, but it ended up being my (my father's) fault, so I didn't push the issue too much. Honda is very quick to push the bent valve argument though, as you've found out.
You think they did rip the enging to check the valve? You would know for sure, they won't start ripping things to pieces without approval and $$. I bet they haven't checked anything. Was your check engine light on before you handed your keys to the dealer? How many miles did they put on your car?
