I guess I dont quite understand. I thought removing the CDV on the AP2 prevented the clutch from taking more of the damage because it engages quicker. Transfers torque to the rear diff quicker, etc.
Please correct me if I misunderstand.

Thanks,

T
You are correct, however Billman has stated before that the AP2 still cannot be shifted as fast as an AP1 even if the CDV is removed because the AP2 has a heavier flywheel than the AP1.

Billman, I remember a thread a while back where a guy in your shop was swapping his ap2 flywheel for a toda flywheel and you said to stay tuned for his results, but they should be dramatic. I just recently swapped mine out for a toda as well. I'm wondering what your opinion was of the result?

When you're racing, which is what I'm assuming you're doing... (no other reason to really rev out the gears) you should be shifting so fast u dont need to even let off the gas. just use the clutch to change gears while remaining full throttle. it's the fastest way to shift if you can do it that way.

either way, ur diff and clutch wont hold up as long as it should if you beat on it like that... kinda common sense. it doesnt matter if it's ap1 or ap2.

I honestly think what your describing is power shifting. If you don't let off the gas I really think you will burn things up in no time. You should be shifting as quickly as possible, however if you don't get off the gas to give the clutch time to engage you are going to fry stuff real quick.

The AP2 with the toda is doing great. Says it 200% improvement to the car, and his lap times have never been better. He did a whole write up on it, not sure where it is....he may have replied in Technical.

Thanks Bill, I actually have that same combo installed right now. I bought a stock clutch and ACT pressure plate and a local member was selling a Toda flywheel from a wrecked car with less than 1,000 miles on the flywheel so I grabbed it from him and put it in.

Out of curiousity, is his setup noisy at all? Mine drives and grips great, but I have some noises. On hard redline shifts I hear an unexplained squeaking noise. No idea what it could be. I also have a rattling noise on some shifts and occasionally while accelerating almost sounds similiar to brake wear sensors. Is his setup noisy at all? I know that aftermarket flywheels sometims are noisy . . . its not bothersome at all I'm just curious as I want to know its not anything bad going on in there.

I'd highly recommend the hardtopguy kit. www.hardtopguy.com He recommends the ACT pressure plate, the stock clutch disc, and comptech flywheel. He has top notch service and should give you a good price. E-mail/call him and tell him Jsmply sent ya

Of course change the bearings and clutch friction disc while you are in there! He will sell you everything you need and he is a honda dealer who knows about our cars and isn't just going to sell you something that will blow up your driveline.

Ya Hardtopguy's kit is awesome. Bill, any ideas as to my noise question above? Thanks for all your awesome contributions. If you were in Miami I'd make you a rich man.
