Default How to correct your car running Rich

I currently have a stock 01 s2k with an intake only. I read that the car runs rich from factory at the start of when vtec kicks in. I was thinking about getting a vtec controller but then i've heard issues using this. Will the car have a problem running rich in the long term. I currently have around 50k miles on the car. Is it worth to purchase a newer ecu from an 02-03. Also, do you get more performance gains with the vtec controller or the 02-03 ecu.

Thanks

if you're that worried about it get yourself a piggyback system like a VAFC and get it tuned by a professional.

People have driven their 00 and 01s for over 120k miles with no problems. Don't worry about it. There are some performance gains by getting the newer ECU or leaning out the fuel with the VAFC, but how much its worth is up to you. You probably comfortably leaned out the fuel by getting the intake anyway.

the car was designed to run this way. because of the high rpm and high compression nature of our cars, this is a safegaurd. there is absolutely nothign wrong with this, nor will it hurt the car in the long term.

honda didn't engineer this car to only last 50,000 miles.

It is safer to run a little on the rich side.
Damage could occur,if you're running too lean, that's why,it was designed to run on the rich side.
