Default How low do you let the oil get before adding?

I am just curious after friends told me I was acting a little "Anal" by adding oil before it dropped to the add oil mark.

Not sure how many XXX's off the top of my head but I try to catch it about 3/4 way down the XXX before the add line. If I know I am going to be driving hard on a Sunday outing, I will try to get it with in the top 1/4 of them.

Why not follow the manual and add when required at each fill-up?

What does 'required' mean?

I think that's what this thread is getting at...

I check oil level everytime I need gas, and fill it up to the top whenever it's not at the top.

Well, it looks like I am not the only one that adds before it gets down to the first X. I have a syringe and just add a few ccs of oil when it is not at the top. I have added as little as 10cc and as much as 30cc at one time. The last bottle of oil lasted over a year and I used it about 20 times.

You should NEVER let the oil level drop on the S2000. VTEC operation is totally dependant on oil pressure.Put simply when the oil is low it doesn't VTEC as well as when it's topped up. As soon as there's any visible drop in level, I add oil even it's just a small quantity.
