How much of you ....GM syncromech ?
I have an '02 that has had a 2nd gear grinding problem since the day I bought it. I was grinding 2~3 times per day, but after adjusting my clutch pedal (which helped) and changing my tranny oil with new Honda MTF (which helped), I was down to about 1~2 grinds per week. I was still not happy with it, so I changed my tranny oil again after about 1000 miles to GM Synchromesh. This has been the miracle cure for me for the past 4700 miles. I have experienced the 2nd gear grind maybe 5 times since I changed to the GM oil, and they have all been times that I was rushing into traffic, and shifted sloppy.
I may try RL MT90, but it won't be until next summer. I don't plan on changing it sooner than that, unless the GM fluid proves to be too thick for cold weather.

One other interesting note is that I NEVER made it through a whole autocross without grinding into 2nd gear at least once, even with the fresh Honda MTF, but I haven't experienced ANY grinding at ANY of the autocrosses I've been to with the GM fluid.
I'll swear by it too. At 2000 miles on my '02, I changed it to Synchromesh.
1 - No more notchy 3rd
2 - No more noise backing up (whine sound)
3 - Shifts into 6th correctly without having to hold the shift knob differently (wasn't expecting this)
4 - Overall shifting is like butter compared to the factory fluid and the overall noise level is reduced

No, I think some of the raves are attributable to the fact people are changing out old lube (IMO anything will feel better in that case). I personally think RL MT90 is better in hot conditions and Honda MTL is great for cold.. IMO the GM stuff is good but not superior.

I know that you are very knowledgeable on this subject, so I'm not questioning your opinion. I have read your thoughts on many threads pertaining to this topic, so I have been wondering for a while if you have actually tried GM Synchromesh and / or RL MT90. Which oil is in your tranny right now, and are you still experiencing any 2nd gear grinds?
