How often do you change your oil?
I was wondering how often everyone here actually changes their oil. I'm going to take a chance and have everyone ignore whether they use conventional or synthetic.
Autoblog had an article about how a majority of ASE certified Master Automobile technicians voted to change oil every 3,000 miles (study sponsored by valvoline of all people). I think that's way too short and only happens because of old thinking.

Thoughts?
Why waste oil and money when you don't have to? Or is it really good insurance to change often?
I'm personally doing 3,750 with conventional oil until I pass 10k, then switch to synthetic oil and go for the 7.5k interval since I drive so much freeway now.
Thanks!

All I got to say is asking mechanics when to change the oil, is like asking a bank clerk for a stock tip. Sure they're kind of in the same place but, neither's qualified to even offer an opinion. Honda says 3750 for harsh usage so, I do it at 3750.
Now, it you asked 500 petroleum enginneers who specialize in lubrication, I might listen to them.
