Default How to replace horn behind grill

I searched but nothing came up on this subject. It is necessary to remove the front bumper to replace the horn behind the grill ? Does not look like the grill can be removed ? Thanks for your help

I've helped install two after market horns (first one broke), and we removed the bumper both times. There should be a thread on bumper removal out there somewhere. It's pretty easy with the instructions. There are one or two screws that are a little tricky to find, right up where the headlight is next to the hood one set is perpendicular to the car's axis.

If I remember correctly, I removed my front horn and bracket through the grill. If you have sausages for fingers, you'd be best removing the bumper (easy). Otherwise, a 3/8" ratchet, 10mm? socket and a long extension should do the trick.

The grill can be removed with a hacksaw....

I installed a set of MY04 horns on my MY02 about 6-8 months ago. No need to remove the front bumper. Just remove splash panels under bumper and if I remember right, loosen the front of the passenger side inner wheel well splash shield. Just enough room to R&R OE sized horns. Anything bigger, maybe not enough room.

Is the 2004 horn much louder than the 2001? I replaced mine with a high tone PIAA and it still sounds like crap. I wanted a Porsche/Ferrari tone, but couldn't find a good match. I also hear that the new Toyota Camry horns are heart stopping!

Regards,
Chip

This is good to know
i really didnt want to take the bumper off my car as i just bought a small air-horn and am planning to install it soon. I will try taking the splash panel off and fish it through that way. Its small enough and should fit.

The front bumper is really easy to remove! It takes no more then 30 minutes and a helper to make sure you don't scratch the paint. There are VERY detailed how to's under the "Clear Corner"(i.e. headlight threads). The gospel was written by a board member known as "Arnell" many years ago. Use the advanced search function for Arnell and clear corners. Or better yet....... You can also access this info through board sponser (Rick's). www.ricks2k.com. Look for clear lenses. Roll your sleeves up and and you'll be done in 2 hours max.........Plus the experience will leave you yearning to tear further into the car.

I reached right through the grill area and replaced it. Did not remove a thing.
