I want to raise my stored vehicle on axle stands for about a week or so and get the wheels powdercoated, it is currently on tires that I am going to throw away...

I was wondering how safe are axle stands, also can you use the stands by themselves to raise the vehicle or do you have to raise it using a jack first and then put the stand under?

If a jack is needed, what are the odds of the car tipping over on the side that has the stands while I am jacking the other to place the stands?

Inexperienced in this area.

Just for future reference, there's a link "Add this thread to My S2000" at the bottom of the post that will subscribe you without having to respond.

Personally, I've always used jackstands. I've set the S2000 on jackstands 10 or 12 times with no issues. Hint: get the shortest jackstands possible or use blocks.

If you use "Blocks", don't use cinder blocks. They can collapse and kill you.

Jack Stands are the safe method to hold a car in the air. That is what they are designed for.

Those appear to be decent quality stands. You want a cast riser and you want the base to be welded where the seams meet. Most of these are OK now.

Those look great, just like mine!

You just want to avoid the cheapies that had telescoping tubes and a little pin to adjust the height. The pins could shear right off.
