That's the right stuff. Just toss those underneath the four jack points on either side of the car and you are good to go.

You just want to avoid the cheapies that had telescoping tubes and a little pin to adjust the height.

If a jack is needed, what are the odds of the car tipping over on the side that has the stands while I am jacking the other to place the stands?
You need a jack to raise the car up. I would use a floor jack to jack up the front and place the jack stands under the frame as far out as you can get them. Make sure you are on a solid piece of the frame and not the underbody. Then jack up the back and place stands under the frame there. I jack up the front first so the emergency brake will keep the car from rolling. Loosen the lug nuts before jacking.

Also, should I put the stands at the jack points or somewhere else?

Thanks everyone.
Use the front and rear jack points and put the jackstands underneath the four jack points on the sides of the car. The suggestions to untorque the lug nuts, and jack from the front first are great.

A Helm's manual will detail exactly where the front and rear jack points are. Its kinda hard to explain without pictures.

Serious question:

If I jack up the passenger side of the car, put in jackstands on that side, then jack up the driver's side and put jacks on that side, will I damage anything?

I did this twice for reasons that made sense at the time, and I am now having trouble with my suspension on the driver's side. I am wondering if this jacking procedure caused the problem.

Jack the front of the car first, not one of the sides. It's much more stable this way. Also please use wheel chocks when jacking up the car.

A good axle stand is the best way to support a car with the wheels removed. I always shake the car sideways before I trust it when it is on the axle stands. I would rather have it fall on the floor than on me. I must admit that I also have the floor jack still under the car when I am testing the axle stand placement. I really don't want it to fall off the stands.

jack stands = U.S. nomenclature

axle stands = Canadian/British nomenclature?

Checked the FAQ, rear jack point seams to be the differential unit itself from the picture. Am I correct?
