You're out of warranty, aren't you?

They might good will it, but just find a friend with a 36mm socket and a breaker bar. You're in LA, I'm sure you can find someone.

Hey man when you heard the popping noise coming from the rear did changing and torquing the spindle nuts work? Please let me know because this is happening to me.

my popping noises disappeared after replacing and applying the higher torque spec to the axle nuts.

You don't need to use new nuts, since you won't be able to confirm the higher torque than it was previously at, by comparing the old stake mark to the new one. I would re-use the nuts, there is nothing wrong with the ones on the car.

I would also like to point out that the purpose of the grease (learned from Billman250) is to enable you to get to 220ft lbs. Otherwise there is to much friction and a human will be unable to torque it to 'spec' no matter how many breaker bars you use.

For reference, I used this method nearly a year ago and have had zero occurrences since. It's often said that unless you know it's been done properly every single car owner should do this as a preventative thing.

Additionally, this guide is fantastic and outlines every step with reasoning; very well.

good luck.
