hp related problems question
I just purchased a vortech sc and it will be installed in about a week.
I was wondering is it common to have rear end problems with FI on this car, or is it from doing clutch dumps which kill the drive train with the added torque? Will the vortech give the car that much more pulling power that the rearend can be damaged from acclerating from a roll? How about hard shifting?
I'm keeping the stock clutch in I'd rather slip than lose the rear. I'm also planning on getting a set of 4.44's to minimize the load.
Are there any other upgrades/sugestions from anyone out there to help prevent rearend destruction?
All people with either FI, knowledeg of this, or rear problems please post
Thanks

you should be fine from a roll...even hard shifting. I definitely would not dump the clutch. Not sure with the different gears...I hear you lose traction shifting into 2nd and 3rd when shifting in Vtec. Anyone with experience on this (gears + SC)? I might be interested in this in the future.

A light weight flywheel should reduce shock on the diff. There are also reinforced bearing caps and diff housings available.
I disagree with the theory that 4.44 gears reduce the load on the diff. The lower gearing will only INCREASE the load on the components behind the ring & pinion. The amount of force to the teeth on the ring & pinion will be the same.
