Default Hypothetical question

Kind of pointless but my buddy and I were going back and forth on this... what do you guys think?

If the primary 02 sensor was placed on the secondary manifold tube (the "2" section on a 4-2-1 design) would it still get the same readings as if it was at the collector? Does it need to sniff all 4 to determine the air/fuel ratio?

I guess what I am asking is.. does the sensor read oxygen in percentage(of all exhaust gasses) or by the total quantity of oxygen that passes by it?

The sensor is where is it for a reason. It is on the 1 pipe (4-2-1) so it can get a reading of all cylinders. If it moved it to the 2 pipe, it will read one set of cyliners more than the other. In that case you woulkd need to have 2 sensors.

The sensor reads oxygen in percentage of all exhaust gasses it sees.
