Default I got a buzzzzzz! Need advice!

Ok I have an annoying metallic buzz. It happens between 2500 and 4000 rpm in all gears. Ok I know "Oh thats easy tsb for the springs on the cluth or the pressure plate what ever that tsb is (tsb-054?) .

BUT! It happens not only on decel but also when I am accelerating! So is it the tsb that deals with the clutch? Or is it someting else? Want to know does the tsb that deals with the clutch also buzz when accelerating.

Just for your info the buzz sounds like its coming from the rear. But it is hard to tell. I've check everything under the rear of the car for the buzz. Everything seems tight. I even went as far to remove the exhaust. I am pretty sure the buzz was still there but its hard to tell with no mufflers (dam thats loud) The buzz is also noticeable when I am parked and in nuetral and I rev my engine. I checked the trunk and even removed the spare tire and still got the buzzzzzzzzz!

So I hope I gave you all enough info. Please fire away at what ya think might be causing the mettallic buzz/rattle. I would really like to know if the tsb problem with the clutch makes noise when in nuetral and ya revv
or if it can occur on acceleration.

The buzz goes away after say 4000 rpm the buzz also goes away when cruising in nuetral with no gas being applied.

I have the Invidia exhaust which drones and I have a feeling is causing something to buzz it can really vibrate things. The buzz started maybe 1 month after I got the Invidia.

Thanks for looking! Greg

try holding the shifter when your in that RPM range.... if it goes away, you need to relube the section between the shfter and the spring.....

No, it doesn't. It's only relevant upon deceleration. I had the buzz REALLY bad, in all gears. But as soon as I stepped on the throttle, it went away completely.

Also, since you mention you can hear it at idle when revving the motor, that completely eliminates the clutch issue (which deals with noise created by gear lash... when the car isn't moving, obviously there isn't any gear noise).

I don't suppose you've checked the exhaust heat shield? It might be worth ripping it off and seeing if that takes care of it.

Thankyou! One thing off my check list. Exact type of answer I was looking for!

I checked to see if the heat shield was on good and it was. I might just might take the heat shield off and see if that is the problem. When I rev the car using a long stick and look under the car it does seem like it is coming from that area right around where the resonater is on the invidia exhaust. At first I actually thought the Resonater had a small metal object loose dancing around but when I removed the exhaust I shook it and it was silent.

By the way would removing the exhaust heat shield cause any damage if I ran without it?

Oh, here's one that comes to mind...

Check the spare tire. In fact, just take it out altogether and see if the buzz goes away. My car started making an annoying rattle, and I didn't really suspect the spare, but I ended up taking it out, and the rattle went away.

I put the spare back in with a cloth under it, and tightened it down really good. No more rattle.

i had that same problem after i put in my Spugen exhaust, ended up being the exhaust rattling against the heat shield like heffergm said. Got out a hammer and bent up the section that was touching the exhaust and all is well.
