Default IAC problems

ok so i got back from a long road trip car was running great! next day i go 2 start up my car and its idling realy funky and a check engine light comes on right when it. the idle was oscilating really fast which pointed me right at the IAC. i drive 2 autozone and i check it with the scan tool sure enough thats what it is. so i clear the coad and giggle the conectors. sure enough problem fixed. i do some running around from store 2 store cuz i just got off leave and i had 2 pick some stuff up, car ran great idle'd fine no problems once so ever. get home go 2 sleep wake up get ready for work that night and i go 2 start up my car CEL comes back on and idle problem still there. i go 2 PT and then i drive back 2 the dorms problem still there but in this second drive i get the engine up to temp.

i go out 2 start my car 2 get 2 work and it runs just fine. I bypassed my collant to the TB and IAC a wial ago. so i'm guessing thats why it runs good after it sits for a wial. i searched and found that if u clean it it'll fix the problem. so i was like well i just cleaned it like a moth ago but i didn't do an amazing job and i just had a long road trip so what the hell. i pull it off and it is pretty damn dirty. i soaked it in Seafoam, scrubed it sprayed it with TB cleaner i spent about an hour and a half making it sparkle. put it back on engine is still hot but the IAC is cold. i start her up and still running shitty. turn it off. go back in side let it get heated up from the manifold. start it up. runs great.

anyone got any ideas?

could that be a bad gasket? or the IAC not being on tight enough? the gasket looks good when i took it off. and i couldn't find a TQ spec so i just snuged it down with moderate pressure cuz i didn't wana risk cracking my IM.

You checked all the contacts on both sides of the connection to the IAC? I have no idea really... other than maybe the IAC is just F'd.

I'm having the exact same issue. I've cleaned the IAC. CEL comes back on later and it drives bad, up and down idle, etc.

Same deal as you, start it cold and it drives crappy, turn it off and go inside store, etc, come back out and it drives fine. I've even come out to drive it after sitting 5-6hrs and it drives fine. And a couple of times it's driven fine after sitting overnight.

I've also been able to sometimes just stop at a stop sign, etc, and turn it off completely, then turn it back on immediately and it drives fine after it was driving crappy since cold start. Which doesn't make sense why it's driving crappy once warmed and driving around 20mins, and then a simple off/on and it's working fine. If I turn if off when cold and driving crappy, then turn back on, it's 50/50 whether it stops driving crappy if I'm still at 1 or 2 bars on the engine temp.

Anyone have any other ideas? My one obvious option at this point is take it off and soak it overnight in carb cleaner and reinstall. Or try another IAC.
