Finally had a chance to take a look at the IACV. Didn't look bad at all, but I cleaned it anyway using a toothbrush, generous amounts of brake cleaner and compressed air. Bolted everything up and the car has been running perfectly for a couple of days now. I'm not sure if this did anything to help because the idle surge "fixed itself" after the original incident...

Thanks again to everyone who replied with suggestions!

Hate to bring up a super old thread but was this ever fully resolved? I've been experiencing the same symptoms, however, when the idle begins to surge, I turned the a/c on and it stabilized almost immediately. Any info on what would cause that?

had surging RPMs last night, read this post and did other research, and took a shot at the iacv. I disassembled, cleaned internals with carb cleaner (the valve did not rotate whatsoever). re-installed and RPMs were not surging after actions were taken. Idle relearn completed.

What are you supposed to do on a 2006 AP2 without an IACV?
Was able to clear some codes and keep having P0507 come up. The car will idle up/down for about 7-8 cycles and then stay around 1800rpm and normalize. After driving through gears and coming to a stop it will continue with the surging for 7-8 cycles and again normalize.

Thoughts?!

Either the pedal sensor, or a vacuum leak.

gone through the visible testing of hoses and cannot find a vacuum leak.

Didn't think about pedal sensor, I have noticed that the throttle map is much narrower (ie. 20 % throttle seems to be more like 50%wot etc)

How would I check the pedal sensor?

The same way you'd check a tps. Check the voltage output.
