Default Idle Surge (Bouncing) after VTEC

Hello,

I tried searching but could not find any related topics so here goes.

I currently have a kpro installed AP1 that is relatively stock in every other way except for a short ram intake. I am using the base map for AP1 that comes with K-Pro.

The car runs perfectly and idles smoothly, except right after VTEC.

For example, the car idles perfect around 800; I hit VTEC in 1st or 2nd gear; come to a stop and the idle bounces back and forth between 1500~2500rpm.

The weird thing is if I roll to a stop and naturally decrease the rpm after the VTEC, idle will be smooth and not bounce..Hence, only when I "abruptly" depress the clutch after vtec when rpm is in the higher band, the idle will be bouncing back and forth..

I hope I'm clear in explaining the situation but is this a normal symptom or any leads ?

Mine does this as well, i always thought it seemed normal. VTEC engages when the camshaft locks, i assumed the surge was when it unlocked. im sure an expert can be more definitive

FWIW, I actually just cleaned the IAC today. I think the car runs smoother overall in terms of power delivery, but it still does the bouncing idle.

The only proper way to fix the IAC is not to clean it, but separate it and free up the shaft.

This could also be caused by the idle settings you currently have due to that basemap.

So don't even wipe off that black residue/carbon build up?
