Thumbs up Injen CAI needs cutting?

I'm considering the Injen CAI. I searched to find out if I need to cut or not, but just got confused.. Do I have to cut anything, or not?? If I have to cut, can anyone show me a pic? And does the Injen come with an "umbrella" as standard? Thanks for any help!

Bump on this thread...I'm also interested to know. I hear that you could actually just remove the splash guard and it fill fit into the bumper area with some pressure on the wheel wheel cover....is this correct?

That's what I did... seems i'm the only person that's done this.

Anyways, you'll notice that connected to the front bumper is a splash guard, there is a SECONDARY splash guard which is basically an extension of the first. You can remove the clips and totally remove it.

This is the part that requires cutting, but from the looks of it, it doesn't do very much besides make the car "slightly" more areodynamic and block some water from splashing up.

I could just look at this when I get home but how hard would it be to fabricate your own splash guard there just to make sure water doesn't get in there? I daily drive mine so that would be a concern for me.

I have to look at it again, but I don't think it's difficult.

ive taken mine out and the only bad thing is so far that your engine bay gets a bit dirty when you drive in the rain so you just have to keep it clean. i took my whole gaurds out to lower the car more.

i just cut out a round circle so the piping can fit through so the filter doesn't get wet or any water goes into the engine bay

I have the AEM V2 CAI and u dont need a splash guard, but ya the cutting is needed. Do u have the plug that goes into that hole at the top gutter of the hood bay so water doesnt leak onto the filter when it rains? Check out this thread:

thanks topgun, I have read that thread multiple times...I think people use umbrellas(what you refer to as splash guard) as a separate safe guard against hydro locking. The splash guard mentioned in this thread is actually part of the car that we are debating if it needs to be cut or not.
