Default Installing new Springs is this ok?

Hey guys, Im putting in Kg/mm race springs right now, and i just got the pass. side front in. I preloaded everything before i tightend my bolts down. When my car is jacked up i have a bit of play in my Spring. Is this normal? The spring is not tight on the shock.(im using OEM shocks) I can move the spring up and down about 1/8 of an inch. Will this affect anything when i drive? Or is this normal when the car is jacked up with aftermarket springs? Please any info will really help. I bought these springs off a member here and he cut a bit off the front springs so it would sit right. He said he never had any problems with them and they road better than stock! I just dont want any noise coming from them. thanks guys

the springs should fit snugly between the perches. there should be no "play"

When I assembled my shocks, there was about an inch of preload on the springs when I put that large center nut back on the top. I certainly couldn't move the spring once assembled.

Exactly how much was cut off? It sounds like a lot to shorten the spring about an inch. How do the springs compare to this picture? What you have there doesn't sound good. There's absolutely no reason why you should have to shorten a set of KG/MM springs if they were installed correctly. Cutting off part of the spring will raise the spring rate and screw with the designed amount of preload.

Is there a possibility that the original owner had the springs installed backwards and cut them to make up for the front too high?? Do the same test as I've said in the past; count the number of coils in each spring and report back.
