Are we talking S/C pulley? if so Mine was a bit of a pain - I had to loosen the mounting bracket on my Comptech to allow clearance to get the pulley off the shaft ad then the tech2 7 psi was very tight to put on so I used a wedge very carefully between the valve cover and the face of the new pulley and coaxed it on - I don't recommend this because the whole time I was sweating bullets afraid I might damage the valve cover I was using as leverage - finally I was able to get it on enough that I could thread the bolt and used that to tighten it the rest of the way - remember that there is a key way with a key (don't lose it ) and a little lubrication helped as well! good luck>
If you have the time I would just remove the blower and do it on a workbench!!!!

 

the key was supposed to come with the comptech unit huh, will i come again with the pulley?

 

"Key" is a bit of a misnomer. Many pulley shafts are "keyed". This referring to a "Woodruff" (sp?) key. It is part of the shaft, NOT the pulley.

 

over all this isn't as bad to install or is this pretty time consuming?

 

With the supercharger off the car, it takes about 5 minutes or less to change the pulley.

 

I witnessed this at the Comptech factory near Sacramento. It took the guy about an hour total to remove the blower, change the pulley and put it back on the car. Mind you, he had air tools and he's done it lots. The rest of the time was for dynoing the car to make sure the new pulley worked well with the rest of the system.

oh and btw, does anyone know what size pully generates 10psi?

 

I have used this procedure to install many press fit pulleys or bearings=
Turn kitchen oven to 250 or 300 degrees
let part sit in oven for 30 minutes
using gloves take part from oven run and slip on shaft, make sure you have it in the right place.
part will fall on the shaft Guaranteed, I have used this procedure on everything from class 7 precision bearings on a lathe spindle to bearing races for wheel bearings.
Try it you will like it.

Ps Some like to place bearings in a motor oil bath to provide even heating.
