Default Intake

I dont know if this subject has come up or not, but i have been unable to find it here. I'm gonna be putting my 1st mod on my 2001 s2k and i chose an intake to be that 1st mod, only problem is ive heard that none of them really make much of a hp difference. So, i guess my question is, does anyone have any suggestions? Best sounding? Best hp improvement? etc etc? please help...i spent a lotta $ to get this car(compared to what i spent on my last 2 cars) and i wanna do it right!

Chris

aem's cold air intake is pretty loud compared to the stock intake, but if u live in a place that rains/floods alot u do have the possiblity of sucking up water and getting hydrolock, comptech's cai is a little bit louder than stock and the plus with it is that you cant hydrolock because of the design of it, unlike aem's the comptech cai doesn't have the pipe going down to the bottom of the car, as far as horsepower aem gains you about 5 hp i believe, not sure about comptech, also you could get a bypass valve for the aem cai but the downside is a loss of the newly gained hp, but its not very noticeable

Kindly scroll down and on the same thread you will read: "Considering what kind of intake..." It is 3 pages long, I know, I just read the whole thing myself, and it's quite informative. Everything you need should be there. If you have any specific questions, I'd ask there.

I second the motion that this has been discussed over and over. Not your fault. It's just that IMO the s2k's stock intake which is too small, mounted right over the radiator for lots of unwanted hot air, and has no airpath to the outside air is one GLARING bad piece of engineering in an otherwise excellently engineered car.

It might help you to search under CAI's, where you'd find a bunch of threads and many pro's and con's.

Thanks,
Richard

I am currently working on an S2000 engine for a race application. The first bit of kit to be built are Jenvey Throttle bodies, which are currently being manufactured. These should offer a significant advantage over the chamber style.

I will post more information, once they have been on the dyno & we have sorted out which injectors to use (will be setup for two injectors per cylinder, one convensational & one outside the ram pipe)
