my interior light, when positioned in the middle position, won't turn on when the key is removed or when the doors are open.

however it will turn on if i press either of the buttons.

when positioned in the 'on' position, they will not turn on.

any ideas what is going on here?

i'm stumped.

i checked the fuse under the dash and it is fine.
