Default Interior Light Not Working At All

I opened up the switch and cleaned it. That fixed the problem.

This isn't really an under the hood question so much as over the head.

I picked up an 02 last weekend, and the interior lights don't work... at all. I know that it's typical for the switch to corrode and need to be cleaned, but I thought the map light buttons would still work even if the switch didn't work well.

I checked the bulb, interior light fuse, and pulled the entire light assembly to make sure nothing fried, but I can't find anything wrong.

im 90% sure the switch will affect the map light...did you try clean the switch? i read you pulled the light assy, but not sure if you consider the switch a part of it...

IIRC, there was a small "ball" that creates contact, if someone popped open your light earlier and lost the ball/broke a connection you're SOL...?

IF you have a DMM try measure for power across the leads coming in?

In my ap2 the slider cuts power to both push button switches, recheck the leads with it on and off. If the line in is hot that is the problem switch,

My wife's Pilot had the same problem with her map light assembly. I replaced the holder module (around $30) and that fixed the problem.

Do you have a buddy you can swap holders with to test?

I'm going to check the lead and then clean the switch. I'll post up if that fixes the problem. Thanks for your help everyone.

I opened up the switch and cleaned everything. It fixed the problem, so the map lights are dependent on the switch. Thanks again!
