Default J's heat shield install problems help

I bought a J's heat shield used so no paper work
I went to do the install and I have some clearance problems. First the post that the heater control cable is on is scraiching the side of the shield, do I have to cut some of the post that it is on to clear the shield?
2nd I have a OEM header do I have to remove the heat shield on it to clear the J's heat shield?

I did do a search about 20 pages or so and no luck on a DIY with a OEM header

The J's sheild won't clear the OEM header's shield. You can either remove the OEM header shield to run the J's, or drill a big hole in the OEM sheild for the damper.

As far as the heater cable, you may be able to bend the valve bracket out of the way, or bend nothing and use the OEM one.

Thank you for the info....if I remove the shield from the header I'm guessing it's going to rase the temp under the hood and that sucks
Will it rase the temp as high as an after market header? I guess I can always use header wrap or jet coat it

I put on a Toda header with no heat shield and my "impression" was that the underhood temps became very much hotter than with the OEM header and shields. I ended up getting a vented hood to get rid of the heat.

The underhood temps will definitely go up without the sheilds.

If you do wrap the header, it may crack or rust out prematurely. Header wraps not only hold the heat in, but moisture as well.

I can get a great deal on a Comptech header, can this header be jet coated? to keep the engine bay temp down.

why wont the heat shields fit the toda header? they just wont?
do you have to get a vented hood when you get a toda header, just to keep the temps down?

The primary tubes on the Toda come out farther than the OEM header. The J's sheild hits #3 tube. The OEM sheild fits without hitting anything.

I ran Toda header without a vented hood, It's not a "must have".

Besides what Slow just said, the Toda has no attachment point for heatshields even if you could get the OEM shields to fit over them.
And no, a vented hood is not a must have, but I just wanted to keep things as cool as possible under there.
