XViper - does having the vented hood (thinking of Top Secret) make a noticeable difference to under hood temps?

I've just installed a J's racing manifold (header) and am slightly concerned about the temps.

Thanks

I never put my recording device under the hood to get real numbers like I did years ago in my experiments, so only by "feel" I can relay to you that the vented hood does make a difference. I could tell by touching things like the battery heat shield, fuse boxes, inner fenders, brake fluid reservoir and just the shear heat that hits me in the face when I open the hood, that the heat in the there was much hotter after the Toda install. Once the vented hood went on, it was apparent that the temps went down - by how much, I can't say. I have the T.S. hood.
Once we finally get summer heat again, I may stick the thermo back in to see what numbers I get. I have the numbers from when the stock header was there. Might not prove much but then, if I get lower numbers than that, something must be happening.

Actually it will fit on a 2000-2001 AP1. I had my OEM header with OEM header shield on my car for 2 years with the Js heat shield. It had minimal clearance but it will work.
The heater plastic piece your talking about was easily solved with a 1/4 inch sponge sticky on the Js heatshield.

Thats about it.

If you have a newer car it may or may not work but we had no issues with it on a 2000-2001 AP1.

My car is an 03 and the J's heatshield fits. But Sam(S2X) did alot of bending to get it to fit with his Mugen header before I bought it from him.

I have a 2002 AP1 and there is no way it will fit the OEM header shield so I will leave it on stand by till I have my hot little hands on the" new to me" Comptech header
Thanks to all for the info and good ideas..."The heater plastic piece your talking about was easily solved with a 1/4 inch sponge sticky on the Js heatshield".

I doubt it. The J's header is bigger pipping then all the other aftermarket headers I believe (Like Spoon, Toda). So if it won't fit those aftermarket headers, I highly doubt it will fit the bigger J's header. But that just my observation, I could be wrong.

Actually the Js is not larger than some of the ones you mentioned. Its a little larger than OEM. It actually may fit.
