Default jdm engine

Anyone ever run a jdm f20c with a usdm s2000 ecu? my engine is trash and thinking about getting a jdm engine. Just need to pass pa emissions.

No you will most likely fail. JDM ECUs are not OBDII spec, and they don't run the air pump assembly the same way. I learned that when I bought that fiasco of a part Challenge made to eliminate the air pump.

Id imagine it would work.

All your getting is the engine...use your intake manifold if needed.

Oh my bad, I got that backwards, I thought you were using a JDM ECU on a USDM engine. The only difference I know of with the JDM engine is that it has a higher compression ratio, so run good gas!

Maybe someone from japan can post the min octane rating for a JDM engine. I thought it was 97 octane.

USDM engine - 11:1 compression ratio
JDM engine - 11.7:1 compression ratio

With the USDM ECU, I feel that running premium 93 octane is fine. The ECU will just retard the timing when it senses knock, so it should be safe enough, but you have to keep in mind that you are running a half-a**ed setup, so it's not going to be perfect.

How about running a thicker head gasket, I think getting the compression ratio to 11.5 could be a good operating point.
