Default Knock sensor shortage

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, nevertheless, I feel this is important information. There is a big shortage right now on knock sensors, they are all in Japan right now, all back ordered for a good 3 weeks. If you ordered a knock sensor recently you are up the creek without a paddle. I can't get ahold of any, every dealership around my area says they have to order them. I don't know about any of the big online retailers but I imagine they have similar waiting times.

Just my luck too.

Likely similar to all electronics lately. I work at a small company that develops IOT and other RF devices for customers and we have been having a hell of a time with parts shortages. What used to be 6 week leadtimes on components is now 50+ weeks. One reason is that a major silicon mfg plant in China burned down in November, impacting a lot of component mfgrs that depend on that factory for wafers. There is also a shortage of some components typically used in LiOn battery protection circuits that is partially due to the increase in electric car production. And I think Covid impacts in general are still lurking due to limitations that imposed on mfgrs during the past 15 months. Likely going to keep being an issue for some time as well from what I have found discussing with many component mfgrs lately. I have a customer trying to build 15,000 units and parts that had 1 week leads pre-covid now have 40 - 50 week leadtimes. It sucks for sure!

Just got refunded after 2 week wait. Attempt number 2. Honda retailers have raised their prices on the sensor. It is now between $210 and $230 before shipping.

Thanks for the heads up - Whilst I don't need one now, I ordered a knock sensor from a local stockist, along with an oil pressure sensor and vtec oil switch.

Buy the parts you think you might need in 6-12 months now - I don't think things will improve anytime soon.

I would recommend using https://www.amayama.com/en/part/honda/30530pcx003 or https://www.rhdjapan.com/oem-public-...=30530-PCX-003. Parts are usually cheaper shipped from Japan.

are you looking for an s2000 knock sensor?
If so, I can check my local dealer in Sarnia, Ontario. Just send me a PM.
