Default Knocking on initial acceleration from 1st and in reverse.

I have a 2002 with 124,xxx miles on my car. I had the clutch replaced about 6 months ago and the brakes replaced a week ago. As far as sound and drive smoothness, everything is still flawless. The only thing that I have always had to listen to when I bought the vehicle 7 months ago is the noise it makes when I'm initially starting to move. The guys that fixed my brakes and clutch said it could be the drive shaft being loose. It makes sense to me but I can't find any type of accurate posts anywhere. So, here goes my description:

I start my vehicle and put it in reverse. When I let off the clutch and start to press the pedal (this is where the drive shaft theory makes sense) it makes 3 clicking sounds as if the sections of the drive shift are rotating separately one at a time until they are all forcing a rotation on each other. Instead of all turning in unison. Then I put it into 1st gear (hopefully you have a mechanical mind) and when I press on the pedal it makes the sounds again as if the transmission is forcing the drive shift into the other direction and then again restarting the cycle of moving the sections separately. Now when I'm driving there is no sound. I'll come to a stop and go again and there will not be any sound (because the drive shift is spinning the same direction unlike when I switch to reverse) But When I Am In Slow traffic and have to keep pushing the clutch in and out and press the pedal then the clicking continues each time because the tranny is spinning the drive shift faster than the wheels are spinning.

If this makes sense to any of you can you please provide some feedback before I fix the wrong thing. Or if anyone has had the same issue before. Also I do not have jack stands or garage or tools because I am in the military and live in an apartment. Thank you.

My first guess is axle nuts.

Axles are well known to shift like this.
