Default Leak down test problems

So I did a compression test on my car a while ago with 210/210/200/170. I finally got around to trying a leak down test but no matter what it seems like will not go past 70 percent. It always seems like it's leaking from the intake side

I put a rod in the cylinder and turn it until it reaches the maximum height. Plug in the tester and it shows 50-70 sometimes even 30. I rotate it once more and so the rod is up and sometimes it's better.

I always thought that the valves would be closed if the piston was up?

They are supposed to be seated when piston is at TDC. Perhaps this is pointing you to your issue. Bent/burnt valve?

Why are we jumping to valve problems? What did the valve adjustment reveal?

My car drives and idles great. I track it with no issues or noise

I tried a leak down on all the cylinders and same crap results

I did the valve adjustment myself and they are fine with no noise

Why did you check the compression and decide to do a leak down? Was there am "event" that gave you concern? 170 on cylinder 4 is no good, depending how you did the compression test I would say all of those #s seem low. The leak down is failing for a reason. Provide more history, milage, AP1/2, any previous issues/incidents that may lead to a problem.

I'm sorry, it was was tired last night and I think I assumed that with a leakdown that you would typically do a compression then move to valve adjustment then if that didn't workm, a leakdown which signalled to me that something bad was going on. Was not a correct train of thought. I apologize for my stupid assumption/repsonse lol.

Just working through the cheaper options it will hopefully turn out to be thumbs up

I did a valve adjustment and a compression test. Found cylinder 4 low. Tracked a bunch of times and finally got around to trying a leak down test. The car is a 04 with 140k.
