Lighter S000
Sheding the spare and associated tools, installing light weight wheels, light weight calipers & rotors, aluminium shocks, CF racing seats and aluminium brackets, a Ti exhaust and lightweight exhaust manifold, a CF intake and a gel battery will leave your car 100kgs (220lbs) lighter (and your bank account substantially more so...).
Any lower than this and you'll need to start replacing body panels by CF.
If you want to gauge the increase in performance by sheding weight just compare power/weight ratios. For instance, to get to the same power/weight ratio as above but without lightening the car you'd need 260HP. So you can say that 100kgs are worth 20HP.

Take off the sun visors. They are completely useless.
How about a custom made polycarbonate windscreen?
Pretty expensive though.
Anyone know how much it would be get custom made carbon fibre body panels?

If you are very serious about weight savings and dont care about comfort and convenience, then:
1. A/C
2. spare tire, tools, trunk lining.
3. remove interior and strip padding and noise suppressant from floor, carpet, firewall, all interior panels and door panels and glass and regulators.
4. airbags and controller.
5. stereo system (it sucks anyway)
6. seats,(replace with stronger and lighter versions.
7. seat belt assemblies. (replace with stronger and lighter versions)
8. remove bumper supports, and fender linings.
9. scrape all sound deadener from underbody
10. remove factory fuel tank, add race fuel cell
11. install rollcage and go to racetrack because you no longer have a street car.
it should now weigh around 2000 lbs. (sound right ?)
you could also remove the convertible top to complete the strip down, it would probabaly be Sub 2K (get it?)

Not even close. You might loose 400# with all that you mention but you are putting back in 100# with a good cage, which puts you at about 2400#. You would have to remove the coverable top and put on a hard top as well which come out a wash as far as weight loss. That is of course we are talking about a real race car that you are racing wheel to wheel in SCCA or another club. You have been playing to much Grand Tourismo if you think you can get a S2000 under 2000#.
I was just asking because I have never stripped mine down, be nice. I did all of the above to a 95 civic Si for drag racing and it was at 1790Lb. with the factory glass still in it. car weighed 2450
when it was purchased. I think it would be really close to 2k. But Im not going to try it anytime soon. Unless you want to donate your car to the cause.

Has anyone considered converting the power top to a manual top? I believe there are at least 2, possibly 4 motors in this contraption, which I'm sure those + the controller will save quite a bit of weight.
I HIGHLY recommend AGAINST removing the bumper supports, either for the street or for racing. If you have a cage, you can better protect yourself, but the bumpers will help prevent a total loss of the chassis. I would doubt anyone here can afford to race an S2k and replace shells very often.
