Default Locked out of 6th gear again

Well I was driving home today and got on it a little in 1st and 2nd to get up to 60ish when I encountered this problem for the second time in about 6 months. Shift through 3rd and 4th and try to stick it in 5th and it grinds (mind you I'm not shifting fast at this point and I am no longer in the upper half of the RPM range). Let off the clutch, push it back in and then into 5th it goes. Try to shift into 6th and I am totally locked out from shifting into 6th.

The first time this happened (about 9 months ago) I somehow got 6th to engage and the problem went away, for a few months. Then about 6 months ago the same thing as above happened but I was not successful in getting it into 6th and did not want to force it so I took it to the dealer. They looked it over, fixed it (apparently by un-sticking the syncro without any 'real' work on the tranny) and told me that the 6th gear syncro had gotten hung up. No problem, I thought this would be the last of the problem.

Well here I am 6 months later and I now have the same problem. Needless to say I am not very happy with my car at this point. The car only has 9200 miles on it and it's been babied since I bought it in 2003. Is this an indication of things to come in the future? What should I ask the dealership to do about this problem? It wouldn't be quite as bad but I live in a small town and driving 80 miles in 5th gear on the highway is a PITA.

I am open to all suggestions.

BTW, I have only run honda MTF and it's been changed at least 2 times in the 9200 miles that I have had the car.

I had this happen a few months after I bought my s2k used. You should take it to the dealership asap, you probably need 4/5/6 gear replaced, should be covered under warrenty. DON'T force the car into 6th gear either it'll just make the problem worse, shave metal off the gear into the gearbox.

And as stated above it's usually caused by skipping gears, which is a no no in the s2k.

Yeah I have seen the discussion on skipping gears and try to avoid it whenever I drive, I still find myself doing it occasionally as the S (which is not my daily driver so I get use to doing it in my other car and then when I switch I sometimes forget).

I know better than to try and force it into 6th, it just drives me nuts that the drivetrain on this car is so sensitive. Oh well, I guess everything has its quirks.

I 'Lost' 6th on mine with 50K on the clock, The cars under a extended warranty so the repair was covered.
Basicly the Sycnro on 6th and 6th itself had seized up solid.
Got the car back today after 5 weeks ! (parts from japan) and all is well.

I'm also not really a 'skipper', it just happen..

Took it into the dealership and, as expected, the 5th-6th gear syncro is messed up. On top of that it appears that I need a new 6th gear. At least it's being covered by warranty and the dealership has been really good about the whole thing.

So skipping gears is NOT recommended? My 05 S has about 150 miles and I don't want to develop any BAD habits.
