Loosing power during vtec

Default Loosing power during vtec

Hey guys started to notice that while im in vtec in 1st or 2nd gear though 6500 - 7500 the vtec stops and then starts again at 7500. What could this be from. I thought that the oil may have needed changing I will try this but if thats not the problem what could it be? Thanks guys need the help.

Probably oil. You may be damaging your engine. I'd be careful. It's fully warmed up while you're doing this isn't it?

Ya i never vtec it when its cold id ont even think about it.

Make sure your oil level is good. Vtec system won't engage without proper oil pressure.

map sensor.. mine did that.. its like it hits a flat spot in the rev range.- there are tons of threads on fixing it.. takes 5 mins and is free.

maybe take your Vtec solenoid off and clean/ replace the filter screen. If it has any dirt or debris in the screen, it could cause a drop in oil pressure to the sensor. Only takes 2 min to do and won't cost anything to check. Worth a try.

Exactly.. no reason to fool with VTEC components, do a search on MAP whack. Probably just needs contacts reseated.

Hey guys thanks for the advice I changed the oil and did the "MAP whack" and car is back to its normal kickin' @#! self. Time to go own some mustangs whos egos are too big for even there cars. haha thanks again.

and, just as follow up, you are checking your oil level every 1000 miles right?
