ok twizted i am the 3rd member here. after studying this problem everytime i drive i have noticed another maybe helpful detail...the RPM mainly in first gear FLIES! and the speedo barely takes up 16-20 mph and drags along the way. the lower end of the car meaning before the peak seems to feel like a b16 engine in a si. the problem feels like air is not getting through or actually the power is not pushing the car as if it has problems moving the wheels.

well bsweep, i personally think it has something to do with the fuel. I have ruled clutch out, cuz it will stutter in nuetral. Air intake. I dont see how it could be this with a new KandN filter, brand new.... Unless it is MAP sensor. I have tried whacking time several times, no help. Im thinking either cat is gettin blocked up or something fuel related. Im no mechanic, and know more about preludes, then s2k's, cuz ive only had her for 6 months now, but it all points to those two.

whatever it may be, it is slowing the acceleration down. the speed of the car and the pull of the vtec/where the peak power is at as well as the low end of the car.

Right, mine will do it in spirts sometimes, like bogs down to what it seems like 160-170hp from 1krpm-6200rpm, then when i hit vtech ..BOOM up to 230-240 for a grand or two, then it bogs the rest of the way.... It was just yesterday, for the first time, i started it up, and it coughed for about 10 secodns with 1 rpm bar lit up, then idled fine, when i rev, it drops so low that sometimes it kills the engine. Thats anotehr thing that points to vacume or fuel issues. I dont see it getting worse as the rpms go up, so im iffy on the cat being the problem, because if it was backpressure, it should be fine during idle, then gradually get worse as rpms go up, i could be wrong though...im no mechanic, it just makes sense to me thats what would happen. Our friend cyprus has allready replaced his map sensor, i havent ruled that out on mine, im keepin it an option, but he is to get back with me today about switching out his cat and other things, so Imma wait and see how those go for him then make a decision. This whole situaution makes me wanna

I'm following this to see what people are finding to be the issue for my own personal gratification. However, after reading this thread, I had a nightmare last night about my car having this problem. Anyway, everyone keeps brainstorming new ideas, but nobody has taken theirs in for the vacuum test? This seems like cheaper than continuing to fight with replacing different things and not finding the issue. Also, Twizded, the plug recall is probably done to almost any car effected. I believe the issue was that the original plugs had issues with fracturing tips that would do some nasty things to the cylinder, thus the recall and wide knowledge.

in a way i think the cat could be the problem because i have no idle problems or anything. and my rpm is good through just like before the ONLY difference is the speed. so maybe the cat is preventing that?

Similar problem, but I thought mine was fixed with a new set of spark plugs. While driving around lastnight it started acting up again after two weeks of doing fine. At one point my idle was down to ~300-400rpm for a couple minutes but it never completely stalled. That was only the second time that my idle has been affected. The rest of the time I get symptoms similar to everyone else.

I'm going to drive around after work and see if I can replicate it, then go to Honda and have a tech go for a ride along with his laptop. With any luck I'll have some data I can post, or at least a better idea of what's going on.
