Has anyone experienced a loss of max hp with a single outlet exhaust? If so, did you go back to a dual and notice a differece?

actually the opposite is true. with single, you would be sacrificing backpressue(loss of lowend torque) but would gain it all back at the higher rpm range(high hp). duals on the other hand offer more backpressure by nature and will increase throttle response and pull in lower rpm, but topend is kind of sacrificed.

From what I understand, more backpressure does NOT equal more of anything. It has more to do with tube length tuning.

Yes, back pressure is always bad, not matter what. It clogs up the flow of engine gases. Making power is simple, more air, more fuel, more power. Backpressure=less air, less power.

People confuse backpressure with flow consistency, if your piping is too large your exhaust will not maintain a harmonic flow, and you will lose power.

Heres my understanding.. I've picked this up from Team-Integra.net awsome site in terms of technical info.

Dual or Single dosent matter what dose matter is the Diameter of the exhaust piping. On a 2L motor your prob looking for 2.5in exhaust or larger depending on mods. Its all about flow. To large an exhaust and scavenging effects on the motor will be less ie.. LESS Power, To small and you choke the motor.

Idealy you wanta same diameter piping from the header all the way out the exhaust. BUT in lack of that you wanta always make steps up

Header 2.25 cat 2.25 exhaust 2.5 Something along those lines.. Mind you these numbers where just for example based on the typical exhaust sizing for Integra's
