Low Idle Speed
My S2k tends to want to die while at stop light every now and then. While sitting in neutral it feels like the idle is too low. I ordered the Helm service manual, but haven't gotten it in yet. I did a search for ppl with similar problems and found this thread. In this thread Luder94 writes:
ok, I adjusted the throttle cable last night by about 1-2 mm. I took a drive last night....and the car feels much more stronger...at idle AND at WOT. <---any thoughts or rationale behind the second observation?
Will this cause any problems? Is this the proper way to deal with the low idle?
Thanks in advance,
Rice

The throttle cable is supposed to have some slack by design. It's not clear from Luder94's post that the cable was tight or loose and did he increase the slack or made it tighter. If you make it too tight you stand the chance of the throttle not closing even when you take your foot off the gas - This may solve your idle problems cause the car does not idle any more!
If it is just doing this on occasion (especially when the climate changes), it is completely normal. The OBD-II ECU has to re-learn its "stuff". If it is doing it all the time, check to make sure that your ECU backup fuse is not blown or missing. Either of these will cause the ECU to reset itself ever time the car is turned off, which will cause the fluctuating idle after every start.
