Default Lower Block "Froze"

So I have had problems with moisture getting into the spark plugs and coil packs. Twice I had the engine die on me while I was on the road and I had to get towed home both times. My mechanic took a look at the car and told me that the lower block froze and that I need a whole new engine. He assumed the car had overheated on me, which I'm positive it did NOT. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what the problem(s) could be? Any help would be appreciated. It's an AP1 (2000). If I have to replace the engine, I think I'm done with owning Hondas.. I've owned them all my life.

Thanks,

Either your mechanic is an idiot or you are not giving/dont know enough information about your problem. Is it loosing oil or coolant? Is the moisture at the plugs/coilpacks engine coolant or something else? Does it run rough or make a strange noise while running? Does it smoke? Do you have a CEL? Please elaborate on your problem and I'm sure you will get a little help from your online Honda family.

No smoke and it was running very rough, WHEN it was running.

It was running fine, then all of a sudden there was a major loss of power. It quickly escalated to the car shaking heavily when I was stopped at a light, then eventually while I was on the fwy, the check engine light started flashing, then it stopped flashing when the engine turned off while I was driving.

The mechanic said there was coolant in two of the spark plugs and coil packs. My brother, who's a mechanic, is going to talk to my mechanic tomorrow to get more info. I'll post an update then.

Thanks,

If the engine was shuttering when it died, then obviously it was spinning. Therefore i dont think it "froze". If you did indeed have coolant on your spark plugs, then you probably had a headgasket blow and that causes coolant to flood out your engine, possibly doing rod/bearing damage and causing the block to "seize".

are you modded? CAI, 3mm HG?

I mean, the engine started to go, and then you got on the freeway? If you lost cooling capabilities and then hit the highway you could have fried the engine. The other times it was towed, did you ever fix any problem or just get the car to start and then drive it?

What does the oil look like? The coolant?
