I think you are talking the wrong kind of Cobra - build a 289 (or 427) replica and stuff a nice small block (or bb) ford 8 in there.

It'll weigh less than a turbo/SC s2k to boot - and end up costing about the same. Toy w/ some vipers then!

Yeah, I've been considering that route, Factory Five racing makes a beautiful kit... and their Daytona coupe is equally gorgeous. Problem is, right now I'm in the Navy, and probably won't be getting my own house with a garage until I get out. The auto hobby shop is good, but it has its limits. <sigh>
My wife is trying to convince me to go with a ZO6... I wish... my budget isn't THAT nice... just some saved up money to play with.
Might just end up waiting for a little while, until I have the means to do the kit car. For now, I'm interested in getting started in road racing with something, and the affordable route looks to be Formula Vee. My wife prefers drag, so we have a conflict of interest in what we want to buy. Well... sorta, I like all racing...

I'd love to have a formula vee.
. . or perhaps a used lotus 7 (catterham superlight) - you'd be street legal there as well . . About as far from a Z06 as you can get. Sorry, I've dragged this way off-topic.

Good luck!

I'm surprised they haven't kicked us over to car talk yet... hey moderator! ha ha.

There are usually some used Vees in Grassroots motorsports, and the owner of Caracal cars (it's on the web, don't remember the address) is pretty friendly, and keeps good tabs on what's for sale in the vee world. When I get back from deployment... oh yeah.
