Default Maintenance Required Light On

I do my own maintenance--how do I turn the light off I already tried reseting the battery? Do I have to take it to a Dealer is that the only way? My car has 48K miles on it--is it normal for this light to come on?

RTFM.

Put the key in the ignition. Hold the trip button for about 5-10 seconds. Then the key all the way while holding the trip button, hold it down until the light goes off.

Thanks for the response man. This has been driving me crazy for a couple of days now. Thanks for letting me know how to turn it off.

dont read the FAQ. Dont use the search. Instead start an entire thread about the maintenance light.

intervall is 5K miles if i'm not mistaking. I want to say it flashes at startup at like 4k and then stays on eventually as you get closer to the maintenance interval milage. dont' quote me on the exact mileage though.
